Chalk Art Festival 2014

I recently held the annual chalk art festival at the middle school I am lucky enough to teach at. The theme of the year was "Art Parody". My advanced art students were organized into groups of 2-4 students and each group chose a famous painting and created a parody of that painting on a small piece of paper and then used the grid drawing method to create a large version on the pavement on chalk art day. I think that most of them turned out to be absolutely amazing! Enjoy:

A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges-Pierre Seraut becomes A Sunday Afternoon with The Regular Show.

Mona Lisa by Leonardo becomes Mona Merida

Golconda by Rene Magritte becomes A Big Fat Mess

The Last Supper by Leonardo becomes The Movie Monster Meal

Marilyn by Andy Warhol becomes Sully

Triple Self Portrait by Norman Rockwell becomes Self Portrait of the Inner Demon

American Gothic by Grant Wood becomes American Gnomes

Nighhawks by Edward Hopper becomes Night Incredibles

Son of Man by Rene Magritte becomes Sponge of Bob

The Scream by Edvard Munch becomes Run Fo Yo Life is Godzira (I know, SO offensive, but they wrote that before I could stop them. It's middle school, what can I say?)

Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh becomes Starry Night of the Fire Goddess

Detail of the Sistine Madonna by Raphael becomes Detail of the Sistine Mice
