Why I Love Facebook

Once upon a time Ian and I had a friend at Westminster College named Kourtney. She was an Art major, just like us. She graduated the same year Ian did, I followed a year later.

Kourtney and I are Facebook friends, quietly following each other's lives in the strange online world for the past several years. A few days ago she posted about a pottery class she was teaching for 3-5 year-olds at Kimball Art Center and I decided to sign Aven up. Sure, I can do any art project I can dream up any time I want with Aven, but I thought it would be nice for Aven to be in an art class with kids her age and I got the bonus of seeing an old friend:

Aven had lots of fun pinching and smoothing her clay.
She was very proud of her creation. I got to make one too :)
We made cute little turkey containers. Aven just looked over at the computer screen and said "Hey! That's me making chicken potties!" Awesome.

We decided to turn our drive up to Park City into a full blown Aven and Mommy date. We went to lunch and then got a treat at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory:

Thanks for the great pottery class, Kourtney, you are an amazing instructor! And thank you Facebook, the thing I both love and hate, for helping me stay connected to awesome people from my past!
